In short: don't go there!!! It is like a prison. The whole building should be demolished. The rooms are dirty, the employees too. Some receptionists are very unpolite, sometimes arrogant and rude. The hotel manager observes the guests from everywhere through cameras, no surprise that he has no time for the hotel. The bedspread was ragged, the window looked to the dirty walls of the neighbouring buildings. The airconditions of the surrounding buildings were so loud that we barely could sleep. Sometimes a weird noise came from the outside and the whole room started to resonate to this. The breakfast is one of the wirst I ever ate in a hotel. We saw cockroaches in the breakfast room. Oh, and I was bitten by a bug (flea?) in the bed.
Good hotel with perfect location on the corner to Copacabana
The worst lobby personnel I have seen in many years (I travel every week!). Not a smile during the whole visit from a crew of 5 people. No goodbye / thanks when we left. What ever we discussed with them, we were always wrong. It is a pity since this hotel is perfectly located and has a good standard. I do not recommend this hotel! Too small breakfast lounge for the size of the hotel. Very crowed.
The room was pretty old and not well kept. The staff was not really helpful and the fee had to be paid fully in advance, unlike other hotels.
We stayed on the 15th floor and had a great view of copacabana and sugar loaf. The roof top pool whilst small was enough to cool you down and the views from there were even better. Whilst expensive, for copacabana it was very reasonable for the service/facilities on offer and would definitely recommend this hotel. If you are able to request a balcony room I would definitely give it a go as we did.
The air conditioning unit was very loud so couldnt have it on whilst sleeping!
The hotel was fine. Too expensive for what we got, but fine. Location is wonderful, its right by Copacabana. Staff seemed just incompetent, breakfast was fine. The pool looks way nicer on the pictures. Rooms as well fine, but not a standard for that price.
A couple of things: Our room wasnt ready at the promised time, and the staff of the Hotel didnt seem to want to help. This was just extremely annoying. The staff just seemed rude, and couldnt handle all their costumers at the time. The first impression was, to be honest, awful.
Location is good yet the hotel is run down and not worth money what you will smell it right away.
Smell of an old building in need for update.
The only thing that was good at Oceano Copacabana was the location (close from the beach)
The client service was poor (for such expensive prices they could at least have people speaking english at the reception). The toilet had very bad smell during my whole stay, No remote for the air conditionning, beds were unconfortable. Internet not working correctly(Hotmail and facebook did not work during my 4 days staying). Spot lights in the room worked sometimes and sometimes not.
Excellent location, very helpful reception, very nice and polite cleaning personnel.
No visitors allowed at all (nope, you can't let a friend use your shower for 10 minutes in the middle of the day after the beach!). Lots of stuff broke down (bathroom, locker, front door key...) and it took us an eternity and dozens of phone calls to get it fixed.
Just the position in Rio .in copacabana, not far From ipanema
Bad breakfast, the noise of the airconditioner(it was broken) horrible service:when We arrived in our room, the beds were not ready!! Asking Information about activities and tour in Rio ,they always proposed their organiste Tours. When We ask them to' phone a samba local for a reservation, they refused!Bad rapport qualità prise
Perfect location, next to the Copacabana beach. We had a spacious room with teracce, the view was fantastic (over the 3th floor). The daytime staff at the reception is so nice and heplful. It could be a very good hotel with a little bit more care.
The room is a bit noisy because of the street, in addition, the air condition is very loud. Breakfast is terrible - the restaurant is too small for the guest, the food choice and quality is poor. Swimming pool is very small, there is no sense to spend your time there. Nighttime staff at the reception is rude. The hole hotel is a bit run-down.
Very bad old room with view on windowson the old houses, no parking
Unfortunatly our stay was very poor. The reception staff were very unhelpful and rude. The room was dirty especially the bathroom, which had to be re cleaned. The room was very hot, and smelled. The breakfast was alright, but nothing good. I would not recommend the Oceano, i would actually go out of my way to stop people from staying there. I would like a refund, because it was a horrible expeience.
It was very overpriced, dirtiness, unfreindly/unhelpful staff.
For a masochist, it gives you the overall impression that they are concentrated on squeezing your wallet, rather than on providing a decent service. There are definitely better choices just around the corner.
It is a rundown hotel, which probably saw better days decades ago, but it is still advertised as 4-star. Had to request a change of room due to poor cleanness (Hair all over the place, mold and rust stains in the tub, etc). As soon as you arrive, they make you pay the entire stay, so you get deprived of any desire to move to another hotel later on, as soon as reality hits you on the face. They advertise free WiFi, but it is so slow that it becomes impossible even to get even basic e-mail. They offer really expensive tourist packages, which you can get for less than half of that price at the nearby tourist office. The pool seems to be always out of service “for the next month” just at the time of your vacation. Breakfast is rather mediocre.
the location, it's close to everywhere in copacabana. Besides, it's next to ipanema beach.
everything was ok, but just the internet wireless doesn't work very well. They give you 3 types of internet services, just one of them is free, and of course this is the worst. You won't be able to open your hotmail or facebook. I thinks it is kind of tricky to get the extra fee internet service. I didn't do it cuz this internet works well with my iphone. Note: Just remember that it is very difficult to find someone speaking english in brazil, so if you speak spanish you need to use it!!!! it doesn't matter if it is not good. Moreover, the electricity plugs are completely different from the USA!!!!!!! please have it in you mind and bring a plug adapter!!!!
The location is great. The hotel is just abvout Copacabana beach, with easy access to transportation to other parts of the city (by bus, metro and/or cabs). The room is comfortable and clean, although not luxurious. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Although the staff goes out of its way in order to provide guests with a comfortable stay, there are points in which the hotel infrastructure is deficient. Three examples: (1) one day we had to wait till after 4PM to have our room made up because the laundry hadn't finished washing towels and bedlinen; (2) the breakfast room is way to small for the size of the hotel and it gets crammed during peak hours (between 8 and 9AM); (3) the hotel advertises free wi-fi, but the server was mostly down during my stay, and when it finally worked it was awfully slow.
